The Botanical Gardens at Asheville Proposal

Have you ever traveled 4 hours to Asheville, set up an absolutely beautiful proposal, and then driven 4 hours back home all in the same day?

The Heart and Hand Team did just that! We were excited, exhausted, and overly consumed with joy seeing such an amazing couple become engaged!

Pre Planning:

Hunter reached out to the Heart + Hand team in March (we love a planner!) He was headed out to sea for over 3 months and needed some assistance setting up a special proposal for his girlfriend Lauren when he returned. He provided our team with amazing details to help us create the perfect setting to pop the question.

Setting the scene:

Hunter made plans to take Lauren on a romantic weekend to Asheville and stay at the Omni Grove Park Inn, such a dream! We designed a proposal with a mix of boho and rustic and incorporated personal touches involving the couples’ shared hobbies. When Hunter approved of the idea, our team began scouting the perfect location. We wanted somewhere with a beautiful tree (an important element in the design) and a lake in the background. After searching, we landed on The Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary.

Perfect, right!? Well of course, once again, Mother Nature had other plans for us. With an 80% chance of rain that morning, we knew we had to invoke the rain plan. YIKES!

Have no fear, our back up plan was strategically picked because of its gorgeous gazebo at the Asheville Botanical Gardens giving us the perfect backdrop for the threatening rain in the forecast.

As we are driving, we watch the percentage drop ever so slightly, and then again, and yet again, and then by the time we arrive, there is only a 30% chance of rain. When we arrived for set-up there wasn’t a dark cloud in the sky. Wahoo, the rain dances worked.

The Botanical Garden at Asheville was absolutely stunning and still gave us shelter just in case. When we arrived, we could have selected the gazebo, but right in front of the gazebo was an absolutely stunning Birch Tree. This particular tree is the one of its kind and size in NC (as told by one of the staff members at the botanical gardens).

We knew this would be a special place for Lauren + Hunter. It was not the same tree as originally planned, but as luck would have it, an even better one!

The Details:

With the new location, our design had to pivot slightly, but we still carried a boho and rustic atmosphere throughout. The space was adorned with photos of the couple throughout their relationship. Hunter even had a personalized wooden ring box made to propose with and had Lauren’s name engraved in it. So sweet!

The Proposal:

Hunter and Lauren walked hand in hand through the garden when Hunter led her right to the proposal spot we had mapped out for him.

As they stepped off the bridge passing over the small creek, they approached the romantic boho set up. As Lauren realized this was all for her, she screamed with joy and excitement. He led her to the base of the tree, got down on one knee, and popped the question!!!

This was truly an amazing, special, and memorable experience. Such a wonderful couple, we wish our fellow northerners the best in their future together. So happy we could be a little part of such a big day.

Congratulations Hunter + Lauren!
