K+P: A New Year’s Proposal

Who’s ringing in the New Year with a fiance!?

Pre Planning

We developed a unique and custom proposal keeping in mind Kevin was looking for something scenic and classy. Our bride to be exudes modern and chic so incorporating her style was important to us too. Our design was inspired by the first time they met, New Year’s Eve, a little more than 7 years ago. This holiday quickly became a favorite of theirs and one they love to celebrate together.

The Details + Setting the Scene

Our design was filled with white and deep red black pearl roses as well as pillowy baby’s breath arrangements. Two custom fabric banners hung personal photo prints, one being from one of their first New Year’s together. A custom cloth backdrop banner with his personal message was front and center as a black entry board with their initials tied all the signage together. For a nod to their favorite holiday, we added disco balls in numerous sizes and illuminating candles to complete the look.

Disco Balls added not only fun and playfulness to the scene, it added all the sparkle! Reflecting off of the candles and sunlight we certainly created a chic nook for our client to propose.

The Proposal

This proposal location was nestled in the beautiful grounds of Coker Arboretum on UNC’s campus. Upon arrival, K+P took a little stroll through the gardens and made their way to the proposal spot while their family and friends hid in anticipation.

As they walked hand in hand up the stone stairs to the proposal backdrop, they took in their special landscape together. After a few short moments the big question was asked…..which was followed by a YES!!

The wonderful photographer Kaylyn Kadah captured a few special moments of the couple embracing and gleaming as bright as the disco balls in this golden hour sun. Shortly after, we gave the cue for family to come out and eagerly share their congratulations to the newly engaged couple.

After some shared moments as a family and a mini session with just the two of them, they continued the celebration at Aperitif, a dessert and wine bar we recommended nearby in Durham, NC.

We were so honored to be a part of this love story. This couple has so much to celebrate as we welcome a new year!

Happy New Year everyone!
