How to pull-off A Long Distance proposal

When our client has a vision, we listen. When a proposal is needed, we create!

It is an exciting feeling when you decide to propose. With it being such an important moment, it’s common to have the added pressure to make it perfect. Firstly decide if you want to keep it low key and intimate or make it a little more of a grand gesture. Whichever way our clients choose, we are here to make it happen even if you are working with us from afar.

Our team assists in planning, designing, and has a hands on approach to all details to create a flawless proposal.

The Planning

Imagine being ready to propose and doing so at a location over 2,000 miles away. Lucky for our west coast clients (and beyond!), we can make those east coast proposal dreams come true! It is crucial to have a team “on the ground” to support this important moment, especially if you aren’t in or familiar with the area.

This was the exact scenario for our client Rafael. His job in real estate took him to the west coast, but he was ready to propose to his girlfriend who was attending school across the country in Charlotte, North Carolina. He shared that they were both very traditional and he admires her loving soul and the love she has for her family- (cue the tears!). Working together across the country can be tricky but with a combined effort of scheduled calls through time zones, email and Instagram messaging we seamlessly worked side by side and our team created detailed ideas for him to choose from.

Our team goes the extra mile when our clients are not from the area to provide as many visual details, instructions on the surroundings, parking details, etc. all outlined in a packet that our clients review prior to their big moment. We take care of all the details for you so you can feel comfortable and prepared on proposal day.

The Proposal

One element that rang true in both ideas we presented was a heart. Rafael wanted to make sure we had some type of heart displayed in his proposal scene. He wanted a very traditional red rose romantic scene. We incorporated pillar candles for some subtle moody lighting with a “will you marry me?” neon sign that really gave the whole scene a pop!

We worked with a local florist to create a show stopping backdrop. This 8ft heart backdrop was adorned with real red blooms from hydrangeas, carnations to roses. Rose petals and single stemmed roses created an aisle and friends and family lined up to surprise and guide the couple to the proposal area. The weather was touch and go with rain showers, but our client opted to keep the original plan of proposing under the cherry blossom trees and it turned out beautiful and they even had some sweet moments under the uptown charlotte skyline!

Thank you R+R for letting us be a part of your special moment, congratulations!!

So tell us, what did you think?
